Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Cardiology)

Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM start) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday flexibility required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic, and cardiac medical patients including post-op CABG, CHF, afib, and related diagnoses
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, Primacor, and Lasix, among others
• Read and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring system
• Manage patients on BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and high-flow oxygen; no full ventilator management required
• Support high patient throughput with fast room turnover, including discharging and admitting up to 12–16 patients per shift on busy days
• Float to ICU as needed to manage stepdown-level patients; ICU-level float may apply for candidates with ICU experience

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown experience in an acute care setting (required without exception)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Proficiency or willingness to orient to pacer wire removal
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility per travel nurse radius requirements

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR
• ICU-level nursing experience (enables broader float eligibility)
• Familiarity with chest tube management and cardiovascular surgical patient populations
