Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

The?Welding Field Engineer?duties include interpreting welding design drawings and specifications, field verification of materials, welder testing and heat treat/stress relief, and aiding welding personnel as required. This position is not considered the design authority for the project, but only to enforce welding construction per design . Responsible for the performance of a broad range of construction quality control activities within an assigned area of responsibility.?Responsible for implementation of quality control procedures and policies to ensure field activities conform to project specifications. Receives technical and operational direction from on-site supervising quality control engineer or other assigned supervising manager.?Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate lead field welding engineer and technical and clerical support staff, as assigned. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

• Directs activities of subordinate quality control engineers, and other inspection personnel, as assigned.

• Responsible for construction quality control program activities, such as development and implementation of inspection plans, within an assigned area of responsibility.

• Determines requirements for, and directs preparation of, technical and administrative documents and reports.

• Within assigned area, monitors the performance and overall progress of construction inspections to ensure adherence to the field quality control program.

• Maintains quality control records in support of activities in the assigned area of responsibility.

• Implements procedures and policies established by others and develops procedures, as required, for the performance of assigned functions.

• Monitors activities of assigned subcontractors to ensure construction, material and installation comply with project specifications and quality control criteria.

• Ensures continuous, progressive training of assigned subordinate personnel.

• Performs annual reviews of subordinate personnel and participates in development plans.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience?

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Coordinates work activities for Project Field Engineer and the Lead Field Welding engineer in implementing the site welding program on large projects

• Implements and maintains Bechtel Field Welding program for all welding operations.

• Provides technical assistance to field superintendents and crafts.

• Ensures that all supervision and craft personnel involved in welding operations are educated and aware of applicable code and project requirements.

• Provides welding engineering support to ensure construction meets all code and Bechtel procedures.

• Provides technical expertise for ASME, API, and AWS or other code designed and fabricated items.

• Coordinates pre- and post-weld heat treatment program whether self- performed by Bechtel or subcontracted.

• Coordinates rod room and rod room attendant to ensure all weld filler materials are controlled and meet Bechtel and Code requirements.

• Assists in the management of the NDE subcontract, including scheduling and coordination between construction and subcontractor.

• Works with craft to maintain welding documentation and ensure the credibility/accountability of the Welding Program.

• Supports the field inspections of welding work to ensure workmanship and materials are in conformance with project requirements.

• Advises on recertification of quality behaviors and defects prior to final inspection.

• Implements the project quality control program for welding.

• Implements weld inspection tracking system using TEAMWorks/WITS applications.
