Respiratory Therapist

Location: Syracuse, NY

Job Type: 14-Week Contract | Traveler Only

Shift: Night Shift (3x12 Hours)

Hours: 07:00 PM – 07:00 AM

Pay Rate: $50 - $55/hour

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care services in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills in respiratory therapy, oxygen management, ventilator support, and patient assessment while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Respiratory Therapy required.

• Current New York State Respiratory Therapist License/Registration required.

• Minimum 2 years of post-degree acute care Respiratory Therapy experience required.

• Pediatric respiratory care experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, equipment, and patient assessment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced acute care environment.

• Must successfully complete pre-employment health clearance.

• Administer positive pressure and aerosol therapy treatments.

• Initiate and monitor oxygen therapy.

• Assist physicians with initiation and management of mechanical ventilation.

• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as required.

• Conduct pulmonary function testing.

• Perform radial arterial punctures and obtain arterial blood gas samples.

• Assess patient respiratory status and monitor treatment effectiveness.

• Document respiratory care services according to facility standards.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

• New York State Respiratory Therapist License/Registration

• Pediatric Respiratory Therapy Experience

• Acute Care Hospital Experience

• Experience in High-Acuity Healthcare Environments
