Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week schedule (flexible). Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity cardiac patients. Highlights Cardiac telemetry and progressive care unit supporting a diverse patient population including post-cardiac surgery, post-catheterization, and medical cardiac patients Complex case mix including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, Watchman procedures, electrophysiology, and vascular surgeries Epic charting system with 24-hour unit orientation and strong interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, rapid response, respiratory services, and more Comprehensive cardiac skill set required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, cardiac drip management with titration, chest tube care, and non-invasive airway management Follow unit rotation for floating (not first to float), creating a stable and predictable work environment Opportunity to care for patients with diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and peripheral vascular disease Requirements Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor nursing experience required Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state) Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Successful completion of EKG competency testing prior to start date Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, stepdown/PCU/IMC care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization, cardiac drip management and titration Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), external CPAP/BIPAP, and non-invasive airway management Willingness to participate in storm team/hurricane team assignments and report during catastrophic events or disasters as needed Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only) Preferred Qualifications Arterial line management experience Wound care and wound vac experience Charge nurse experience Why It's a Great Opportunity This position offers the chance to work with a comprehensive cardiac and cardiothoracic patient population in a supportive, well-resourced unit.
