Work hours for this position will be from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May need to work occasional shifts outside of the regular shift to meet the needs of the department. Successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions. Also, must be able to interpret written directives, policies, and memos. An essential function of this position requires the individual to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. It also requires constant or frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and depth perception. You must be able to perform this level of physical exertion and essential functions in order to be considered for this position.

Shift differentials will be paid to employees in eligible classes as published in the State's annual pay plan:

• Regular rate applies when work hours fall between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (no shift differential).
• Second shift differential rate (7.5%) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
• Third shift differential rate (14%) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
• Weekend differential rate (20%) applies when more than half of the scheduled shift hours fall on a weekend shift. Weekend shifts start at 4:00 pm Friday through 6:00 am Monday

Description of Job

This full-time position is located in the Facilities Department at Community College of Aurora and provides ongoing and preventative maintenance for buildings and grounds, ensuring efficient, quality service for the staff, faculty and student body. Primary duties and responsibilities include:

General Maintenance & Repair:

• Complete light carpentry tasks, painting, and drywall repairs.
• Install and hang fixtures, including bulletin boards, whiteboards, and pictures.

Systems Support:

• Assist maintenance staff with HVAC tasks, including changing filters and belts, cleaning coils, and greasing motors.
• Make minor adjustments to the building automation system (BAS) as directed.
• Support the troubleshooting and repair of electrical lighting and power systems.
• Assist with the troubleshooting and repair of plumbing systems.

Facilities & Event Operations:

• Assemble new office furniture and move existing furniture throughout the college as requested.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of large-scale campus events.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal.

Class Code & Classification Description: D6D1XX - STRUCTURAL TRADES I

Minimum Qualifications: Experience Only: Two (2) years of experience in the structural trades to include carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing and HVAC. Do not use "See Resume" statements on application; your application must be completed in detail and clearly document your relevant work experience. (Part time experience will be pro-rated).

OR Education and Experience: Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school appropriate to the work assignment may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application in order to be considered. Please redact age-related information on your transcript.

Conditions of Employment: Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, etc. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position.
