Financial Assistance Advocate

General Summary:

Financial Assistance Advocate provides students and delinquent borrowers with financial information on deferments, forbearance, consolidation and financial literacy and assist with obtaining financial assistance from direct loan services provided by the Department of Education Federal Direct Student Loan to bring loan(s) to a current payment status. Maintain office procedures in accordance with Federal rules and regulations and track delinquent students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understanding of financial aid requirement, rules and regulations, policies and procedures of FAFSA (PELL) and Direct Student Loan.
• Determine if students are in default.
• Assist students with financial literacy.
• Provide role modeling to students and maintain professional working relationships.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree Business or related fields with 3 years of customer service and financial literacy.
• Knowledge of computers and software programs, data entry, and tracking various information on different platforms.
• Must be able to work a variable schedule with nights, weekends, and/or flex hours.
• Some traveling involved.
• Ability to work independently and with a team while multitasking.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willing to learn new skills.
