Electrical Commissioning Technician - Memphis

Job Description

Job Description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.

SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.

ELECTRICAL COMMISSIONING TECHNICIAN

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Commissioning Technician to support the buildout and energization of SpaceXSI's high-performance data centers. In this critical hands-on role, you will perform commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems that power our next-generation AI supercomputing infrastructure.

You will work closely with construction, engineering, and operations teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality electrical systems from initial installation through full system turnover.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute electrical commissioning activities for medium and low voltage power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, and associated controls in data center environments
• Perform point-to-point wiring checks, functional testing, calibration, and system integration verification
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases
• Develop and execute detailed commissioning test procedures, scripts, and documentation in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
• Collaborate with EPC contractors, OEM vendors, and SpaceXSI engineers to coordinate energization sequences and integrated system testing
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, LOTO procedures, and quality standards during all commissioning activities
• Maintain accurate as-built documentation, test records, and commissioning reports
• Support training of operations and maintenance teams on commissioned electrical systems
• Participate in constructability reviews and provide field feedback to improve design and installation quality

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of hands-on electrical commissioning or field technician experience in data centers, power plants, or industrial facilities
• Experience with commissioning test equipment (meggers, multimeters, relay test sets, power quality analyzers, etc.)
• Current OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent training

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong working knowledge of electrical systems up to 480V (medium voltage experience preferred), including switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and protective relaying
• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA)
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams
• Strong safety mindset
• Prior commissioning experience on hyperscale data center projects or mission-critical facilities
• NETA certification (Level II or higher) or equivalent (e.g., NICET, Journeyman Electrician license)
• Experience with data center power infrastructure including redundant UPS, generators, and busway systems
• Knowledge of PLC/controls troubleshooting and SCADA systems
• Proficiency with commissioning management software (e.g., CxPro, Procore, or similar)
• Technical degree or trade school certification in electrical engineering technology or related field

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to travel extensively to SpaceXSI construction sites and remain onsite during peak commissioning phases
• Capability to work in industrial environments, climb ladders, lift moderate loads, and wear PPE for extended periods
• Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends during critical commissioning windows
• This is a full-time, onsite role with significant travel to SpaceXSI data center sites
