Cashier/Clerk in the College Bookstore
Job Description
Required Schedule: 2:45pm-7:15pm M-Th (with preferred availability on Friday from 7:30am-12:00pm or 11:15am-3:45pm) Serves as cashier and clerk in the bookstore, order books and materials, coordinate and copy curriculum, collect funds, and perform various other clerical duties.
Job Focus
- Works as cashier/clerk in the College bookstore
- Photocopies, collates, and binds curriculum and materials sold; and keeps sufficient copies on hand for student sales
- Reconciles cash box and creates deposits for bookstore purchases
- Performs other related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or equivalent
- Proven experience in retail sales, cashiering, stocking, and customer service
- One year of experience performing related duties
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of cash registers, inventory control, merchandising, stocking shelves, and customer service
- General office procedures and practices
- Basic knowledge of computer applications
- Some knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting; 10 key operation; basic mathematics; skill in typing and operation of various types of office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, and the public
- Ability to work independently and manage work assignments in a high interpersonal contact environment
- Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by workload and time deadlines
