Job Description
1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Staff nurse in ED for all ages. Duties include triage, assessments, treatments such as wound care and orthopedic, care of behavioral health patients, trauma, codes, critical care.

2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
T-System electronic record, Med Dispense

3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Minimum 2 years ED experience

4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
BLS, ACLS, PALS required, TNCC and ENPC preferred

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
Always minimum of 3 nurses on duty. No on-call requirements. Every other weekend required. Shifts vary depending on need but include days, evenings, and overnights.

6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)
On rare occasion, ED staff do float to other units (Med-Surg, SCU, OB) depending on census and needs in the hospital. ED staff will respond to codes in other units (SCU, Med-Surg).

7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
15 bed ED. We have a total of 6 rooms that can become safe rooms in locked unit if needed for behavioral health patients.

8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
During full staff nurse to patient ratio is 3:1. This adjusts depending on acuity of patients and flexes when we are not at full staffing times.

9. Dress Code:
Scrub top and bottom, any style or color

10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
Orientation checklist and competencies will be provided on first day. Nurse will work alongside another nurse to become familiar with unit and complete orientation. Orientation length varies depending on the person but no longer than 1 week.
