WIC Supervisor (Nutritionist III)

"Everything is Better in Person" Summary Objective Person County Government is seeking a dedicated WIC Supervisor (Nutritionist III) to join the Person County Health Department. This leadership-driven role plays a pivotal part in advancing community health through the effective administration and oversight of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Job Description WIC Supervisor manages all program operations, staff, and client services to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Salary will be determined based on education and relevant experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record per County policy. This is an exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly (1950 hours annually). Essential Functions The essential functions are listed under Description of Responsibilities and Duties in the complete job description (please refer to the full posting). Minimum Education & Experience Requirements Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education, a Master’s degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Nutrition from an accredited college or university, and one year of experience. or Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education and two years of nutrition experience. Special Certifications and Licenses Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. Pre‑Employment Screening A pre‑employment drug screen for all candidates. Positions designated by Person County as Safety Sensitive are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing. A background check for all candidates; some positions also require a credit check. Additional screening and testing may be required for certain positions. Within 3 days of employment start, proof of eligibility to work in the US must be provided. Person County Government is an Equal Opportunity/E-Verify Employer. Employee Benefits NC State Retirement System: Employee contributes 6% of pre‑tax salary; County contributes 14.39% (county employees) and 16.08% (law enforcement) effective 7/1/2024. EMPOWER 401(k) & 457: County contributes 5% of salary into the 401(k); employee may contribute up to 80% of compensation or up to $17,500. Paid Leave: Annual Leave: 0‑2 years: 12 days; 3‑4 years: 15 days; 5‑9 years: 17 days; 10‑14 years: 20 days; 15‑19 years: 22 days; 20+ years: 25 days. Sick Leave: 12 days per year. Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year. Parental Leave: 30 paid days for new parents. Volunteer Leave: Up to 24 hours of paid time off per fiscal year to volunteer. Wellness Day: 1 day per year. Pay Program: Merit increases – annual increases based upon performance (up to 3%). Long‑Vity Pay (Part‑time & Full‑time): 1 year, less than 5 years – 0.50% of annual salary. 5 years, less than 10 years – 1% of annual salary. 10 years, less than 15 years – 2% of annual salary. 15 years, less than 20 years – 3.25% of annual salary. 20 years, less than 25 years – 4.5% of annual salary. 25 years or more – 5.75% of annual salary. Tuition Reimbursement Program: Employees may be reimbursed for eligible expenses up to $2,500 per fiscal year. Certifications: 1.5% salary increase per advanced certification pertaining to the job. Direct Deposit: Employees are paid bi‑weekly with direct deposit. Wellness Programs: County Employee Gym: $25 yearly membership fee for full‑time employees; $50 for part‑time public safety employees at the Sheriff's Department or EMS who must be fit for duty. Walk or Work Out Program: Employees may be physically active three times a week for 45 minutes. Insurance: Health Insurance – HSA (CIGNA): County contributes $1,200 to HSA account, pro‑rated by insurance effective date. Health Insurance – Traditional Plan (CIGNA): Various monthly premiums listed by coverage. Dental Insurance: County pays 100% premium; added monthly costs for employee + child, spouse, family. Vision: Monthly premiums for employee, child, spouse, family. Life Insurance: $10,000 policy provided; supplemental policies available.
