Job Description and Duties Special Investigator in the Department of Cannabis Control, Los Angeles County, CA. Under the supervision of the Supervising Special Investigator, conducts inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions related to the commercial cannabis industry within the Southern California region. May coordinate with other government agencies to ensure compliance of California’s commercial cannabis laws and regulations. Responsibilities Conduct field compliance investigations at cannabis licensees, ensuring they adhere to public safety and environmental standards. Work closely with local, state, and other partners on cannabis compliance matters. Play a key role in developing and implementing progressive policies that balance industry growth with public health, safety, and community welfare. Perform field inspections and investigations across diverse communities within the region. Special Requirements Valid California Driver’s License required. Program will require completion of criminal record checks (CORI) and periodic clearance. Submit Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1, and within 30 days of leaving office. Participate in Department of Motor Vehicles Employer Pull Notice Program. On‑duty medical surveillance and respiratory protection program participation due to potential exposure. Required medical clearance from California Department of Human Resources Medical Officer before employment. Travel throughout the State of California by various transportation methods.
