Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Job Summary

Join our dedicated nursing team as a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This 64-bed unit, featuring 15 designated Neuro beds, provides comprehensive care to adult patients (18+ years) with a wide range of complex medical conditions.

The IMCU specializes in managing patients with neurological disorders, cardiac conditions, trauma, respiratory illnesses (including COPD), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiovascular step-down, and post-operative care. This role requires a highly skilled and adaptable nurse capable of managing diverse patient needs in a dynamic environment, with a commitment to floating to other units as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to adult patients (18+) with diverse and complex diagnoses including neurological, cardiac, trauma, respiratory, DKA, sepsis, MI, CV step-down, and post-operative conditions.
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients requiring specialized equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, and BiPAP.
• Care for patients on chronic ventilation, collaborating closely with Respiratory Therapy for optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, perform comprehensive patient assessments, and accurately document patient status and interventions using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Float to other units as needed to support hospital staffing requirements and patient care demands.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Ability to float to other units as required by facility needs.
