CNC Lead Machinist

EHC is currently looking for a CNC Lead Machinist in the Houston Area

Job Title: CNC Lead Machinist Shift: 2nd Shift – 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM

Job Summary

The CNC Lead will oversee machine production and apply knowledge of mechanics to ensure the quality and precision of manufactured parts. This role is responsible for production runs and modifying existing programs for different machines. The CNC Lead will work closely with machine operators during the manufacturing process to perform quality checks and ensure parts are produced according to specifications, making manual adjustments when necessary.

This position will also support daily shop operations, assist with operator training, and help ensure production schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Lead and support CNC operators while working closely with management

· Assist with daily production operations when the manager is not available

· Train operators how to properly run CNC machine

· Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues as they arise

· Read and interpret technical drawings and set up machines according to blueprint

· Perform quality assurance checks to ensure parts meet design specifications

· Select proper tooling required to cut specific materials and program machines accordingly

· Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and report maintenance issues to management

· Ensure operators understand and meet quality expectations for their assigned work

· Coordinate daily work activities based on production schedules

· Organize workflow and manage product flow efficiently

· Assist with scheduling manpower, maintenance, and production timelines to meet delivery requirements

· Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the shop

· Ensure employees have the tools and resources needed to perform their work successfully

· Set hourly and daily performance expectations and support operators in achieving production goals

· Maintain positive employee relations while working with management and supervisors

· Promote and enforce safety standards and train employees on proper safety procedures

Requirements and Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· Knowledge of precision measurement and tolerances

· Strong Knowledge of CNC programs in EIA and Mazatrol

· Completion of a technical certificate or associate degree program preferred

· Experience working in a manufacturing or machining environment required

· Basic math and computer skills required

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and verify part accuracy

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently while closely following instructions

· Positive and professional attitude

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for short periods of time

Preferred Experience

· Minimum 5 years of experience with Mazak lathe machines with live tooling

· Experience working with Mazak Multiplex machines with gantry loader preferred

· Strong knowledge of Mazatrol programming language and G-code programming
