About the Role As Managing Partner of the Foundation Fund, you'll lead Higher Order Capital's flagship investment platform dedicated to acquiring majority stakes in resilient, profitable businesses. You'll drive our Venture Equity (VE) approach—a powerful blend of private equity stability and venture-backed growth potential—to transform traditional service businesses into tech-enabled market leaders. This role represents a unique opportunity to build and lead a distinctive investment strategy at the intersection of institutional excellence and systematic innovation. You'll leverage your deep industry relationships and investment expertise to identify opportunities, structure transactions, and guide portfolio companies through transformative growth. What You'll Do You'll lead all aspects of the Foundation Fund, from fundraising and investor relations to deal sourcing, execution, and portfolio management. Working with our DealPoint platform, you'll identify resilient businesses with revenues between $20‑150M and EBITDA margins of 20%+ that are ready for technological transformation. You'll structure and negotiate majority-control investments, collaborating with management teams pre‑acquisition to develop transformation roadmaps. Post‑acquisition, you'll oversee the implementation of our Higher Order Modernization Plan, ensuring systematic execution of automation playbooks that drive measurable value creation. Throughout the investment lifecycle, you'll maintain strong relationships with limited partners, portfolio company leadership, and the broader investment community. You'll represent the Foundation Fund's distinctive approach in the market while continuously refining our investment thesis based on execution learnings. You should have deep relationships across the private equity ecosystem and demonstrated success in structuring and closing majority‑control transactions. Your investment approach should balance strategic vision with disciplined execution. You understand the dynamics of middle‑market businesses and can identify opportunities where technological transformation will create outsized returns. Most importantly, you exhibit the judgment to walk away from deals that don't meet our strict criteria, maintaining investment discipline even in competitive situations. You should possess natural intellectual curiosity, constantly exploring emerging trends in business models, technology applications, and market dynamics. This curiosity should be balanced with pragmatism—focusing on practical applications rather than theoretical possibilities. Requirements Extensive experience (10+ years) in private equity with a focus on majority‑control investments Proven track record raising institutional capital and managing limited partner relationships History of successfully structured and executed middle‑market transactions Experience leading investment teams and managing investment committees Strong network of relationships across the private equity ecosystem Track record of value creation in portfolio companies Understanding of technology's role in business transformation Bachelor's degree required, MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred Ideal Background The ideal candidate has served in senior roles at respected private equity firms, with experience spanning fund formation, deal execution, and portfolio management. You've likely worked under industry leaders who have shaped your investment philosophy while developing your own distinctive approach. Experience with business services, technology‑enabled services, or other sectors relevant to our automation thesis would be particularly valuable. You should be comfortable with both traditional private equity disciplines and more innovative growth strategies.
