About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - MS/PCU/Tele or CCU experience Description: Unit has no blocked scheduling requests. The number of beds is 34. Patient ratios are 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, orthopedic surgeries, appendicitis, cholecystectomy, diverticulitis, bowel resection, and pancreatitis. Charge nurses are available on both shifts. Supervisors are available during nights. Patient care technicians are present on the unit with a maximum ratio of 1:12. Chronic BiPAP and CPAP equipment are utilized. Remote monitoring is in place for telemetry. Monitor technicians provide analysis but RNs are not responsible for interpretation. Shifts are self-scheduled as appropriate based on census and staffing availability. Weekend rotation is variable based on staffing, currently requiring 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Holiday rotation is based on the calendar. If shifts are canceled, there may be a call requirement with a 45-minute return time after notification per policy. Floating is required within the medical-surgical scope of practice. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. There will be one shift of clinical nursing education followed by two shifts on the unit with a preceptor for unit-specific orientation. Charting is done using Cerner. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required. Trauma level and care setting is acute. Division is nursing. Day shifts are from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Weekend and holiday requirements are part of the rotation. This position does not involve any discriminatory practices.
