Field Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Field Technician
to support enterprise, wholesale, and colocation customers across Davenport, Moline, Bettendorf, and surrounding areas. This is your chance to be at the forefront of network infrastructure, troubleshooting, installing, and restoring critical fiber optic and telecommunications equipment in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:
As a vital member of our team, you will monitor, analyze, and resolve network issues promptly, ensuring seamless connectivity for our clients. Your responsibilities will include performing new customer installations, managing structured wiring and NID setups, supporting emergency restoration efforts for aerial and buried fiber optic cables, and maintaining colocation facilities. You will document your work thoroughly, support network testing and acceptance, and provide around-the-clock support through trouble tickets and alarm monitoring, including participating in rotational on-call duties.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in telecommunications or equivalent technical training
• Proficiency with testing equipment such as OTDR, OSA, DS1/3, Ethernet
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Flexibility to work day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong PC skills and ability to multitask in demanding environments

Nice to Have Skills:

• Fiber optics splicing and maintenance
• Private line broadband installation and maintenance
• Experience with SONET/DWDM, IP/MPLS fundamentals, and network testing
• Certifications in Cisco, Alcatel Lucent, or VOIP switching
• SS7/STP support experience

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Technical degree or college coursework in telecommunications or related fields
• Experience in fiber optic or network installation and maintenance, especially in a field setting

Other Requirements:

• Ability to travel within the service area is essential
• Willingness to support emergency restoration and work flexible hours
