Payroll Specialist

We are assisting a client, in downtown Mobile, AL, in their search for a detail-oriented and dependable Entry-Level Payroll Specialist . This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in payroll or accounting. The Payroll Specialist will assist with processing payroll accurately and on time while maintaining employee records and supporting day-to-day payroll activities. Responsibilities: Collect, review, and verify timesheets, attendance records, and payroll documentation. Audit timekeeping records, identify discrepancies, and work with employees and supervisors to resolve issues. Process regular hours, overtime, commissions, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments. Assist with weekly, biweekly, and other scheduled payroll processing. Review payroll registers and prepare payroll reports to ensure accuracy. Ensure direct deposits, checks, and other employee payments are processed accurately and on time. Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and payroll corrections. Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records. Assist with payroll tax reporting, W-2 preparation, year-end processing, and payroll compliance. Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred 1+ year of administrative, accounting, payroll, or office experience preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to handle confidential information professionally Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
