Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

Northeast Healthcare Recruitment, Inc.

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician to provide locum tenens coverage in Port St. Lucie, Florida. This opportunity offers 12-hour shifts in a busy community emergency department serving both pediatric and adult patients. Physicians will work alongside experienced Advanced Practice Professionals in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality emergency care.

Position Details

Shift Length: 12 Hours

Coverage Needed: AM and PM Shifts

No Call Required

Weekend Coverage Required

Average Credentialing Time: 90 Days

Facility Highlights

Annual Emergency Department Volume: Approximately 43,000 visits

35 Private Emergency Department Rooms

24 Inpatient Beds

Certified Stroke Center

Certified Chest Pain Center

Admission Rate: 18%–24%

EMR: Meditech with Dragon Dictation

Physician Coverage: 40 Hours Daily

Advanced Practice Professional Coverage: 22 Hours Daily

Patient Population & Volume

Adult and Pediatric Patients

Primarily Level 3 and Level 4 Acuity

Occasional Level 2 Emergency Cases

Community-Based Emergency Department Setting

Average Physician Patient Volume: 1.2–2.0 Patients Per Hour

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a broad spectrum of emergency and urgent medical conditions

Provide comprehensive emergency care for both adult and pediatric patients

Stabilize and manage critically ill or injured patients

Perform emergency procedures as clinically indicated

Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary personnel

Maintain accurate and timely documentation utilizing Meditech and Dragon Dictation

Adhere to departmental quality and patient safety standards

Requirements

Active Florida Medical License Required

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)

ABEM Candidates Only (No Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physicians)

Current ACLS Certification Required

Current PALS Certification Required

Current DEA Registration Required
