Manager, Cost Accounting

Cogent Biosciences seeks a Manager of Cost Accounting to establish and oversee inventory and cost of goods sold processes for its commercial launch. The role requires designing scalable accounting systems, ensuring U.S. GAAP compliance, and collaborating across supply chain, finance, and operations functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cost accounting policies, methodologies, and processes with periodic variance analysis
• Manage accounting for all inventory stages and ensure proper capitalization and costing in compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Execute month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and inventory flux analysis
• Oversee inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, physical counts, and reserve analyses to validate internal controls
• Provide margin analysis and financial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making

Requirements

• Extensive experience in pharmaceutical or biotech cost accounting and inventory management
• Strong knowledge of standard costing methodologies and U.S. GAAP compliance
• Expertise designing and maintaining accounting processes and internal controls
• Experience with cost modeling, variance analysis, and financial reporting
• Proficiency managing inventory across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with supply chain, quality, and finance teams
