General Summary The Human Resources Representative partners with department and clinical operating group managers, supervisors and staff members throughout the system of care on general human resources topics. The Human Resources Representative advises and counsels employees, supervisors and managers on the human resource implications of business decisions. The Human Resources Representative relies on strategic thinking and knowledge in the following areas: organizational dynamics and structure; project management; staffing, selection, and recruiting tactics; training and development; employee rewards and recognition; compensation and benefits analysis and strategies; change and culture management including leadership development and team building; employee relationship and communication management; employee relations and performance and talent management. Principal Responsibilities Provides feedback to managers regarding existing human resource issues and concerns and works with the manager to identify potential solutions. Discourages bureaucratic, overly formal responses to human resource concerns or issues. Responds to employee questions and concerns as needed. Exercises knowledge of HR policies and procedures to help resolve employee concerns and questions either directly or by referring the individual to the appropriate HR contact. Participates in counseling/investigations regarding escalated employee concerns and issues as appropriate. Owns and facilitates Orientation for all new employees. Facilitates ongoing training sessions on a variety of HR related topics. Partners with appropriate individuals/departments in the organization of Institute-wide events and employee activities. Participates in, and may manage, HR related projects and initiatives as the need arises. Monitors and collects documents to ensure compliance to relevant company policies and legal requirements. May conduct audits as appropriate. Collaborates with appropriate functions throughout the organization to ensure adherence to various compliance standards and requirements. Promotes an appreciation of, and sensitivity to, the diversity of individuals involved in situations and how that diversity may affect behavior. Performs job responsibilities in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Establishes and meets deadlines while managing multiple priorities. Makes effective and timely decisions within range of authority, even when data is limited or solutions produce unpleasant personal or interpersonal consequences. Escalates and/or seeks advice when appropriate. Reporting Relationships Reports to Director, Human Resources Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Education level appropriate with what is normally gained through the acquisition of a bachelor''s degree in humanities or business. Master''s degree preferred but not required. Proven expertise in two to three of the technical areas within human resources (listed above), normally gained through three to five years experience in the field. Demonstrated experience and ability to recommend and advocate for appropriate human resource decisions with all internal and external clients. Must adjust rapidly to new situations warranting attention and resolution. Demonstrates good judgment in identifying situations requiring negotiations and problem solving. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, active listening and persuasive negotiation skills and diplomacy with all levels of an organization. Must possess excellent analytical and planning skills. Demonstrates effective presentation and facilitation skills. Demonstrates group cohesiveness and collaborates well with others. Working Conditions Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
