Job Overview

As a PCT on the Observation Unit, you'll work closely with nurses to provide hands-on care to patients who require short-term evaluation, treatment, and monitoring. You'll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and compassionate bedside care — including support for patients nearing the end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure patients feel supported during a critical window in their care.

What You'll Do

• Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
• Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers
• Monitor and record vital signs
• Document patient information accurately
• This role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations
• Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

About the Observation Unit

The Observation Unit is a 23-bed unit with remote telemetry capabilities, caring for patients who need short-term evaluation and monitoring as test results guide decisions for admission or discharge. The team cares for a wide range of patient conditions, making it an excellent environment to strengthen critical thinking and time-management skills.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
