Job Description: The Department of Psychology , within the College of Arts and Sciences , offers Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees with concentrations in Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Additionally, the Department of Psychology and the College of Arts and Sciences offers a collaborative and supportive environment. This position emphasizes candidates who pursue excellence in research, teaching, and service at an R1 institution that serves a diverse community and mentors the next generation of scientists. The College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Albany, SUNY, is a diverse and vibrant community of exceptional scholars committed to excellence in the pursuit of knowledge, both for its own sake and in service to society. As the University's largest academic unit, the College spans 20 academic departments and 12 Institutes and Centers, in addition to the UAlbany in the High School Program and the Performing Arts Center and serves as the intellectual core of the University's teaching and research mission. The College encompasses the Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the Social Sciences, providing the liberal arts foundation for a UAlbany education and supporting a broad portfolio of undergraduate and graduate programs. Through its programs, students explore complex ideas and pressing societal challenges; develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and creativity; investigate the natural world; and cultivate the intellectual flexibility needed to be engaged local and global citizens. Faculty across the College are active researchers and scholars, affording students opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary inquiry, and experiential learning within a collaborative and intellectually rich environment. The Department of Psychology seeks to hire a Full-time Lecturer to teach psychology courses for the 2026-27 academic year with classes beginning August 24, 2026. This is a one-year, full-time academic year position. Area of specialization is open. The Lecturer will teach six undergraduate psychology courses per year, three courses per semester, as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean. Courses to be taught may include APSY 101 Introduction to Psychology and upper-level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. UAlbany's primary course delivery and other obligations are expected to be completed in person, unless specific assignments are assigned or approved to be completed remotely or online at the University's discretion. Primary Responsibilities: Teaching: Three courses per semester, for a total of six courses during the academic year. Service: University, College, Department Service, and other reasonable duties as assigned. Functional and Supervisory Relationships: Reports to: Department Chair. May supervise employees as assigned. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in psychology or closely related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally accrediting organization by 8/21/2026. Experience teaching at the college or university level. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. degree or terminal degree in psychology or closely related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally accrediting organization by 8/21/2026. Experience teaching Introduction to Psychology and other Psychology courses. Typical office, classroom, and educational environment.
