DCS Staff Physician, Pediatrician

Job Description and Duties

The Staff Physician/Pediatrician position serves as a member of a transdisciplinary assessment team in the provision of medical information, student evaluations, diagnostic/treatment plans, and/or training services to local educational agencies (LEAs), including the delivery of educationally relevant medical information regarding diagnoses, planning, and the impact of diagnoses on student learning for students with any disabling condition(s). Specific training services may include technical assistance and/or the presentation of professional development activities for LEA staff and parents.

Working Conditions

Will work in a temperature-controlled environment with lighting, predominantly sit (or sit/stand) at desk during normal working hours to perform daily duties, and may be required to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

May be required to bend, squat, kneel, stoop, or sit on ground when working with and assessing students. May be required to drive state fleet vehicles or sit in vehicles with coworkers when going to/from school districts or assessment sites. Overnight stay may be required.

** This position has a Pay Differential 515 - State Special Schools Recruitment and Retention of 10% of the base salary. The pay differential is not included in the salary listed below. **

** Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025 ) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each eligible employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 4.62 percent and will receive 8 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part-time employees shall be subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. The pay reduction is not included in the salary listed below. **

Special Requirements

This position requires the following pre-employment clearance:

• Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment and/or Test
• Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) Fingerprint Clearance.
