Typical Monday–Friday daytime hours; flexibility required to support urgent analyses, extended hours, or occasional weekend work based on lab demand.About the RoleEurofins EAG Laboratories is seeking a Senior Failure Analysis Engineer to lead hands-on investigations of electronic components, packages, and systems. You will work directly in the lab owning failure analysis from problem definition through root cause and client recommendations.This role is best suited for someone who enjoys deep technical debugging, operates lab tools independently, and can translate complex data into clear, actionable conclusions.What You’ll DoPerform hands-on failure analysis on semiconductor devices and electronic components (ICs, subcomponents, systems)Design and execute analytical plans to determine root cause of electrical/mechanical failuresUse and interpret results from tools such as: X-ray, SEM/EDS, FA isolation techniques, and electrical characterization toolsAnalyze ATE datalogs, schematics, and test results to diagnose issuesLead or contribute to fault isolation and deprocessing workflowsReview, validate, and approve lab data and technical reportsCommunicate findings to internal teams and external clients in clear, practical termsIdentify process improvements to increase lab throughput and reduce repeat failuresSupport cross-functional collaboration with lab staff to manage workflow, quality, and prioritiesWhy Join EAGWork on high-impact technical problems across multiple industriesAccess to advanced lab tools and techniquesOpportunity to own investigations end-to-end and influence outcomesCollaborative, hands-on team environment focused on technical excellenceCompliance Requirement (ITAR)This position supports work subject to U.S. export control regulations. Applicants must meet U.S. Person status as defined by ITAR:U.S. CitizenU.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card)Protected Individual (asylee or refugee)QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field8+ years of hands-on failure analysis experience in semiconductor or electronics environmentDemonstrated experience with multiple FA techniques and tools, such as:Electrical characterization (curve trace, parametric analysis, oscilloscope)Fault isolation (e.g., OBIRCH, emission microscopy, thermal techniques)Deprocessing and sample prep (e.g., RIE, FIB/PFIB, lapping, etching)Physical analysis (SEM/EDS, cross-sectioning, X-ray, C-SAM)Working knowledge of device physics, IC layout, and semiconductor processesExperience reviewing and writing technical reports for internal or customer useAbility to work onsite in a lab environment daily and handle multiple active analysesPreferredExperience with advanced nodes (e.g., FinFET) or complex packagingFamiliarity with industry standards (JEDEC, IPC, MIL-STD, AEC)Experience supporting external customers or client-facing technical discussionsExposure to LabView, GDS layout tools, or similar systemsWork Environment & ExpectationsThis is a fully onsite lab role in Sunnyvale, CAWork involves operating lab equipment, handling chemicals/materials, and following safety protocolsSchedule may adjust based on priority turnaround times and customer commitmentsMust be able to coordinate with team members to manage workload and meet deadlinesWe encourage you to apply even if your experience is not a 100% match with the position. Physical RequirementsAbility to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods (4+ hours).Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.Ability to communicate clearly and understandably in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in group settings.Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and/or fingers.Require close-distance visual acuity with or without correction (glasses, contacts, etc.).Must be willing and able to wear PPE such as respirator, hard-hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, laboratory coat, and other required devices or equipment.Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in workflow contexts.Ability to move equipment or items up to 50 lbs.The essential physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
