RISE Prep Academies prioritizes professional development and growth for each of its educators. We are looking to hire a Director, Grades 10-11 for our Upper Academy. About RISE Prep Academies RISE Prep Academies is a college preparatory K-12 public charter school network based in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where college preparation begins in Kindergarten. Approved by the Rhode Island Board of Education in October 2014, we opened our doors to our founding class of kindergarteners in August 2015 and our founding High School class in August of 2024. Through a rigorous curriculum, highly structured learning environment, and character education, RISE Prep Academies ensures that all Kindergarten through 12th grade students achieve the academic skills, content knowledge, and character required for the path to college or career. RISE Prep Academies is committed to establishing intentionally diverse schools that enroll from both urban and suburban communities. We believe that part of our mission is to teach the importance and value of diversity within classrooms and communities. RISE Prep curriculum will include a community engagement component to ensure habits of service, helping, and kindness are fostered within our students to shape engaged and caring members of their communities. We will be expanding to serve 11th grade for SY 26-27. RISE Prep Academies is built upon six critical elements: A rigorous college preparatory program focused on literacy and math A joyful culture with structure and discipline Recruiting and developing excellent teachers An extended school day for scholars Partnerships with families and communities Use of data to strategically propel scholar achievement All educators at RISE Prep Academies will: Embody RISE Prep’s mission, vision, and RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Self-Determination, Excellence) Believe in the urgency and importance of providing an outstanding college preparatory academic and character education to all students Take ownership for the achievement results of their students Have a track record of producing dramatic, demonstrable student achievement gains or comparable results in their current field Work well within a team and approach all work with positivity and determination Be goal-driven, analytical problem solvers, and embody a can-do spirit and strong work ethic Promote continuous improvement by being, self-reflective and open to feedback Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues Responsibilities: The Director's primary role is to serve as the instructional leader for a designated grade-span and provide oversight and management of academics, culture and operations of designed grades. The Director, Grades 10-11, will be instrumental in our buidout of our High School programming as we expand to serve 11th grade in Fall of 2026 and 12th grade in Fall of 2027. Specific roles and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following, Supports Implementation of RISE Prep Vision for Teaching and Learning: The Director is the primary face and leader of the mission and vision of RISE Prep at their grade-span. They manage the school-level implementation of the RISE Prep vision for teaching and learning including the development and oversight of the school schedule and staff schedules. They manage school-level systems to ensure the success of all learners and cultivate a culture where all learners are supported and successful, including oversight of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Supports Implementation of Upper Academy’s School Improvement Plan: Works in partnership with their School Leadership team, including their Co-Director, and the school community to uphold a clear vision for the school. The Director is primarily responsible for the execution and progress monitoring the vision/goals in the school improvement plan and (re)allocating resources in support of these plans in partnership with the Superintendent. A major priority for SY 26-27 is to support programmatic buildout for 11th grade, increase daily attendance, and decrease chronic attendance. School-wide Human Capital and Human Resources: Oversees the implementation of the hiring, onboarding, coaching/evaluation processes, and systems of support at the school level in alignment to network policies, procedures, and best practice in close coordination with the Superintendent. One of the primary roles and responsibilities of the Director is to serve as the manager of every school-based staff member for their designated grade-span. Professional Learning and Leadership Development: Develops sequence of professional learning and development for school staff in partnership with the Superintendent, Directors of Teaching and Learning, and School Leadership Team. Cultivates the leadership of teachers, including but not limited to Teacher Leaders and Instructional Coaches. Scholar Culture and Behavior: Upholds the RISE Prep Academies vision for school culture and systems established by the Executive Team. Manages Behavior Support Specialists and identifies consequences for major violations in community expectations in alignment to RISE Prep procedures in consultation with Superintendent. Family Engagement, Communication, and Relationships: Establishes a vision for family engagement and relationships in alignment to network vision, goals, and priorities. Supports school staff to establish strong relationships with families and plans for family engagement. Establishes and monitors the quality and quantity of family communication for school staff. Serves as the primary point of contact in response to family needs for designated grade-span. Qualifications: Required: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and current teaching certification, 3+ years of experience as a teacher with proven track record of success in academic outcomes and classroom management with measurable results, Previous experience coaching and/or managing other adults in a school setting, Exceptional verbal and written communication in English Experience and comfort with High-Quality Instructional Materials (e.g. StudySync, Illustrative Math, OpenSciEd, College Board Pre-AP/AP, etc.) Familiarity with Teach Like a Champion, and other effective instructional practices for instructional delivery and classroom management, Enrollment or completion of required Science of Reading training in alignment with the Rhode Island Rights to Read Act; Awareness or Proficiency based on role Technological proficiency and comfort with using online platforms Preferred: 3+ years of experience as a RISE Prep teacher with proven track record of success in academic outcomes and classroom management with measurable results, Previous experience co-teaching and/or coaching adults; strong professional development planning skills that prioritize teacher practice and feedback, Strong interpersonal communication skills and team leadership; strong personal organizational systems, particularly pertaining to time and task management Current Building/District administrator certification or pathway to certification Certification or Endorsement in Special Education, Multilingual Learner, Literacy/Dyslexia, etc. Fluency in a language other than English, particularly languages spoken by RISE Prep families (e.g. Spanish, Arabic, French, Wolof, etc.) Position Type Full-Time Job Requirements Master degree preferred.
