Field Service Technician I Cargo

Overview This position supports on‑call work and requires travel. The primary assignment is Presidio, TX, within a 1‑2 hour radius. Backup support is provided at Del Rio, TX; El Paso, TX; and Eagle Pass, TX. Responsibilities Diagnose, service, deploy, and repair Trace, X‑Ray, CT X‑Ray, and cargo inspection equipment at customer sites. Maintain field service logs and filing systems to initiate, organize, and preserve all job files until completion. Use downtime productively and demonstrate initiative and dedication to exceed customer and company expectations. Make follow‑up calls to confirm customer satisfaction. Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction. Foster positive customer relations and communicate effectively. Install, repair, and maintain equipment in the field; provide customer training as required. Respond to emergency and non‑scheduled calls for service within established response time goals. Complete scheduled maintenance within required deadlines, document all inspections, maintenance, and repair work, and submit paperwork promptly. Order, install, and return parts; manage repair parts cycle time. Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and tools. Stay current on all technical certifications. Review logs for open issues and prepare formal reports to customers. Participate in service sales opportunities and assist with promoting and implementing revenue programs. Seek knowledge growth from senior level field service technicians. Ensure tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Assess product/equipment performance using field support data and recommend modifications or improvements. Provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required. Participate in site surveys, pilot program activities, meetings, special projects, and prepare exclusive reports. Possess solid technical knowledge of the company’s Trace and X‑Ray technologies. Maintain clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written. Build close relationships with senior level field technicians and product managers to support customer needs and stay aware of technical trends. Control and minimize costs while maximizing revenue. Submit expenses, time cards, and other administrative tasks within specified timelines. Work beyond Monday‑Friday if required, including travel, overtime, and different hours. Comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies. Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations. Perform other duties as required. Education and Training Associate’s Degree or related trade certification in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering; or military training in electrical, mechanical, or electronics. Equivalent experience (1–3 years) in a related field service role is acceptable. Experience Minimum 1–3 years of direct troubleshooting and field repair experience for electrical and electronic systems and equipment. Knowledge and Skills Excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus and teamwork orientation. Responsive to all customer issues at all times. Willingly and able to travel at short notice. Other Requirements Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask several projects. Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle stressful situations. Self‑motivated, reliable, and accountable. Excellent telephone skills. Ability to lift and carry 80 lbs. Confidence in operating carts, hoists, davit cranes, pallet jacks or other devices as defined in manuals. Full body mobility required. Safe work practices in varied environments and around dangerous industrial equipment. Work Environment Service is rendered at customer locations such as airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships, or other sites as required. Benefits Annual compensation ranges from $64,680 – $87,560, plus a competitive Business Profit Plan.
