Location BBC Bronson Battle Creek Position Orthopedic Physician Assistant - Battle Creek Bronson Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a dynamic Physician Assistant to join their practice in Battle Creek, MI. Candidate will see patients in clinic and will assist surgeons in the OR. This is an outstanding opportunity to join Bronson Healthcare, a premier healthcare provider in Calhoun County. The Practice The Practice currently employs 4 surgeons and 4 physician assistants who provide care to patients in the community hospital, located in Battle Creek. This is an employed position with a hospital-based orthopedic practice with three locations and staff privileges at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, a 228-bed, all-private room community hospital. Bronson Battle Creek provides a full range of outpatient and inpatient acute care including robotic surgery, world-class diagnostics, and rehabilitation services. The range of services provided by Bronson Orthopedic Specialists includes diagnostic and advanced surgical treatment options for the following: Hip, Hip Joint Replacement, Hip Joint Revision, Hip Resurfacing Knee, Knee Joint Replacement, Knee Joint Revision, Orthopedic Surgery, Orthopedic Trauma Robotic-Assisted Knee Joint Replacement, Shoulder, Shoulder Joint Replacement, Sports Medicine As part of the total joint replacement program at Bronson, all patients are optimized for surgery, coordinated by our team of orthopedic nurse navigators. The program includes preoperative patient education and individualized post-operative physical therapy. Qualifications Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program Licensure as Physician Assistant and state DEA license to prescribe medications Current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s) Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other software relevant to the job Regularly communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing (SBAR technique) Communicates with internal customers (physicians, multi-disciplinary team, finance, management) and external customers (patients, third party payers, community agencies) daily Work with mental/visual fatigue risk considerations; ability to operate a computer for extended periods Physical demands: regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light objects Responsibilities Coordinate care with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate progress towards outcomes, including discharge or transfer of care. Act as a clinical resource for the team. Assist in development and integration of quality measures/evidence into clinical practice. Utilization Review: perform initial comprehensive assessment to determine service level; apply regulatory and third-party payor criteria; facilitate timely discharges/transfers. Clinical Management: evaluate and manage patients; review labs, EKGs, imaging; complete documentation to support billing, medical care, orders, progress notes; be available for nursing questions.
