Electrical Technician / Panel Builder
Location: Rochester Hills, MI (onsite)

Our client is a global leader in industrial robotics and factory automation. Its Rochester Hills headquarters builds and supports robot systems for manufacturers across North America. The work areas are clean, well lit and air conditioned.
About the Role
You'll build and wire robot control panels and related electrical assemblies from schematics and electrical prints. This is hands-on production work on a daily build schedule, mostly done on your own with little supervision. There are levels 1 through 3. Level 3 also coaches coworkers on safety and quality and gives feedback on wire layouts for custom and new products.
Responsibilities
- Assemble electrical control panels to engineering drawings, specs and work instructions
- Read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and blueprints
- Wire equipment using the correct voltage levels and standard color codes
- Lay out enclosures and subpanels and make the cutouts the build calls for
- Check components against the bill of materials (BOM)
- Inspect your own work for quality, continuity and safety
- Use hand tools like strippers, crimpers, wrenches, pliers and soldering irons
- Close out work orders in the ERP system (Oracle)
- Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hazmat, PPE and electrical safety
- Keep your work area organized using 5S
- Meet the daily build schedule and flag issues to your supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 5 years of electrical assembly and test in manufacturing
- Background as a panel builder, electrical or maintenance technician, electrical apprentice, or automotive or quality technician
- Able to read electrical, mechanical and pneumatic prints and schematics
- Comfortable with electrical and mechanical hand tools
- Familiar with shop safety, such as MIOSHA, lockout/tagout, hazmat and forklift
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- ISO 9001 experience is a plus
