Project Controls Cost Analyst

Location: Atlanta, GA
Hire Type:  Full-Time
Compensation: $60/hr - $65/hr

Position Overview

The Project Controls Consultant is responsible for supporting the planning, cost management, forecasting, risk analysis, procurement, and financial oversight of energy and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, vendors, customers, and project teams to ensure projects remain aligned with approved budgets, schedules, forecasts, and execution strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) that align project execution strategies with cost tracking, forecasting, scheduling, and comparison to the original estimate.
• Manage and monitor project budgets to ensure effective and cost-efficient utilization of resources.
• Support the Project Manager as the Project Controls lead by developing a strong understanding of project scope, objectives, and execution activities.
• Participate in weekly and monthly project meetings and incorporate project updates into forecasts, estimates, risk registers, and financial reports.
• Prepare project estimates and budgets and initiate and maintain cost forecasts.
• Review and incorporate monthly project costs and perform cost variance analysis, including explanations of significant variances.
• Lead cost impact and forecast review meetings with Project Management.
• Conduct qualified and quantified risk analysis to support data-driven decision-making and the development of risk response strategies.
• Support the bidding process, including bid evaluations, comparisons, and reporting.
• Review project invoicing for compliance with contractual requirements and project progress.
• Manage vendor-related cost and schedule activities, including change orders, invoicing, estimates, schedules, and reporting.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure project information and deliverables meet the needs of the project and Project Manager.
• Support the settlement of final accounts and project closeout activities to minimize unforeseen or trailing costs.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and project stakeholders.

Qualifications & Key Skills

• Demonstrated experience in project cost management and project controls.
• Experience with cost estimating, planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and materials.
• Working knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
• Experience with post-contract cost management activities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Methodical and analytical approach to work.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing project environments.
• Strong problem-solving, negotiation, financial, and numerical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to understand and evaluate complex project information and requirements.
• Strong team-oriented approach with effective conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, customers, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
