Make a meaningful impact in a local school environment by using your expertise in school-based occupational therapy. This contract role, based near Gloucester, VA, offers a part-time schedule at 3 days per week with flexibility to accommodate your availability. You’ll have the chance to provide onsite services directly to students, collaborating alongside a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for comprehensive support.
Interviews are scheduled for the week of 10/19, so this is your moment to step into a rewarding position quickly.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state
- Previous experience in school settings preferred
- Strong grasp of individual education plans (IEPs) and a commitment to therapeutic interventions tailored to school-aged children
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with educators, families, and support staff
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional abilities and develop individualized therapy plans
- Deliver engaging, onsite therapy sessions targeting fine motor skills, sensory integration, and self-care routines
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and support personnel to support students’ academic and functional goals
- Maintain accurate documentation of progress and communicate results within the educational team
- Supervise and work collaboratively with an onsite COTA to enhance service delivery
