Make a difference with us!Job Description As a Dispatcher, you play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and coordination within the emergency medical services team. Your responsibilities include coordinating communication between field staff and facilities to ensure timely and accurate responses to service requests for ambulance transports.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Ensuring that all transport requests are picked up in a timely manner (using either phone or computer)Ensuring all crews are accounted for at all timesEnsuring that callers are notified of any delays in transports.Ability to demonstrate responsibility by receiving, assimilating, and recording information accurately into our system and respond appropriatelyEfficiently dispatching of transport requests and relaying appropriate information to field crewsKnowledge of geography of service areaOperates computers, software, and multi-line phone system.Ensures the provision of optimal transportation services to patients and referring agencies.Flexible as to work schedule and able to work varying shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.Physical Demands:Must be able to sit for long periods of timeMust be able to hear wellMust be able to speak, write, and understand English fluentlyQualifications:Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.Prior Dispatch or medical experience preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology.Proficiency in spelling and writing English.Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.Ability to deal with high stress situations.Customer service experienceWorking knowledge and proficiency of electronic communication.Able to quickly manage and transition between various tasks while maintaining attention to detail.Self-confidence, emotional stability, good judgment, and tolerance for high stressPossess good verbal communication skillsAbility to handle adverse situations effectivelyOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
