Job Title: Production Helper – Powder Coating

Job Description

The Production Helper prepares metal components for powder coating by performing cleaning, washing, masking, and surface preparation tasks while supporting high-quality finishes and safe, efficient production on an industrial paint line.

Responsibilities

• Perform metal preparation activities including cleaning, degreasing, rinsing, and metal wash operations to ensure surfaces are properly conditioned for coating.
• Prepare parts for powder coating by sanding, masking, plugging, and inspecting surfaces to meet quality and specification requirements.
• Operate metal wash and pretreatment equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Load and unload parts onto racks and conveyor systems to support continuous production flow.
• Apply powder coating to metal components while maintaining required coating thickness and consistent coverage.
• Monitor powder coating equipment, including spray guns and curing ovens, to ensure proper operation and consistent results.
• Inspect finished products for defects, coverage, color consistency, and overall quality, and report any issues promptly.
• Follow work instructions and production schedules to meet daily output and quality targets.
• Use hand tools and basic measuring devices to verify part preparation and coating quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in powder coating, metal finishing, metal preparation, paint line operations, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
• Experience with industrial painting, powder coating, or coating applications using spray guns and paint booths.
• Ability to read and follow written work instructions and production schedules accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to use hand tools and basic measuring devices safely and effectively.
• Capability to perform general labor tasks in an industrial production environment.
• Familiarity with sanding, masking, and other paint preparation processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in industrial painting or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with powder coat systems, curing ovens, and coating equipment.
• Comfort working around production equipment, racks, conveyor systems, and paint booths.
• Ability to collaborate with a small production team and support multiple tasks as needed.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work takes place in a manufacturing facility that is kept very clean and is temperature controlled, providing a comfortable and organized production environment. The production floor is relatively small, with approximately 20 employees, which supports close teamwork and clear communication. The facility operates a single shift only, so there are no rotating or overnight shifts. You work around powder coating and industrial painting equipment, including spray guns, paint booths, racks, conveyor systems, and curing ovens. All workers must wear safety glasses and steel-toe footwear; the environment is not loud, so ear plugs are not required unless otherwise specified by safety guidelines.E

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berkeley, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
