Job Summary
Seeking a Testing Engineer with hands-on experience in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and validation of power converters. This is not a software testing role. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in power electronics, MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, real-time simulation, and embedded controller validation.







Job Title: Testing Engineer
Location: Raleigh, NC

Mandatory Skills

• Hands-on HIL testing and validation of power converters
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow model development experience
• Strong knowledge of power electronics and power conversion systems, including:

1. Inverters
2. UPS systems
3. AC-DC converters
4. DC-DC converters

• Power conversion control architectures
• Experience with power converter control algorithms and state machine implementation
• Experience with controller-to-HIL interfacing, signal mapping, and I/O configuration
• Experience with real-time simulation and model-based design
• Strong understanding of control systems, embedded controllers, and validation methodologies
• Experience debugging hardware-software integration issues in real-time simulation environments
• Exposure to firmware validation and embedded system testing
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams

Preferred Skills

• OPAL-RT experience
• Experience with DVT plans, validation reporting, and fault injection
• Experience supporting system-level validation

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop breakout/interface boards for integrating power converter controllers with HIL platforms.
• Configure and establish OPAL-RT HIL test setups for power electronic systems.
• Develop and maintain real-time HIL models for power and interface circuits using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
• Integrate power converter control hardware with HIL environments, including:

1. Signal conditioning and gain setting
2. Pin mapping and wiring validation
3. Analog and digital I/O configuration
4. Communication interface setup and verification

• Execute validation activities according to Design Verification Test (DVT) plans.
• Analyze test results and generate validation reports.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues identified during HIL testing.
• Collaborate with Control, Firmware, and System Engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Support controller algorithm verification, fault injection, and system-level validation.
