Interim Educational Support Coordinator – Equine Program Job Summary: This interim position supports one or more educational programs by providing student instruction, coaching, and performing a variety of tasks directly related to a specific educational program including operating and maintaining educational program‑related facilities. The assignment runs through 6/30/2027. Responsibilities Provides high‑quality, engaging course instruction; develops course syllabi; evaluates student performance and achievement of learning outcomes; recommends appropriate texts and teaching aids; contributes to the college‑wide assessment of student learning outcomes; actively participates in maintaining accreditation standards. Provides coaching instruction utilizing a variety of teaching techniques to enhance skill, performance, and leadership in the area of specialty. Leads one‑on‑one and group coaching sessions to provide hands‑on instruction and feedback focused on refining techniques and enhancing overall performance. Monitors and oversees assigned facilities to ensure efficient and effective operations and student safety; responds to emergency needs of students, animals, equipment, and facilities. Monitors availability of materials, supplies, and equipment; procures required materials, supplies, and equipment for assigned academic area(s). Serves as a liaison with prospective and incoming students, which includes providing information on academic programs, giving tours, checking in new students, orienting new students, and performing other related activities. Assists in recruiting new students into the applicable academic program. Participates in developing and maintaining the budget in assigned academic area(s), which includes preparing cost projections; recommending equipment replacements; monitoring expenditures and revenues; and, performing other related activities. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Positions assigned to the Equine Center Coordinator may be responsible for: Teaching courses such as Applied Horse and Stall Care I, II, III, and IV; Training the Young Horse I and II; Monitoring the health and condition of horses, administering basic medication, and providing basic emergency care as appropriate; Coordinating with vendors for equine‑related services, feed, supplies, and other operational needs; Supporting maintenance of equine facilities, grounds, barns, and arenas, including operating equipment such as a skid steer or tractor for barn/arena maintenance and moving feed or supplies; Supervising student employees, including assigning work, providing direction, monitoring performance, and addressing routine performance or conduct concerns; Providing emergency response and support for the equine barn, including after‑hours response when necessary for horse care, student safety, facility issues, or other urgent operational needs; Managing student conduct and safety expectations in the equine barn environment, including addressing concerns related to program rules, animal care, safety practices, program dismissal, and student performance or responsibilities, in coordination with applicable College processes and procedures. Required Training and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to the facilitation specialty, and at least two years of related practical or teaching experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Master’s degree may be required for teaching certain courses. Preferred Training & Experience None specified. Licensing Requirements Successful criminal background check required. Maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Maintain a high level of content knowledge and engage in ongoing professional development in relation to one’s field and teaching; Maintain state‑of‑the‑art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines; Effective instruction, coaching, and teaching techniques; Theories and practices in the assigned academic area; Customer service principles; Budgeting principles; Needs assessment techniques; Applicable tools and equipment utilized in the assigned academic area; Safe practices for operating vehicles and equipment, including trucks, utility vehicles, skid steers, tractors, and other equipment. Skill in: Teaching students in an applicable academic area; Effective student coaching, instruction, and teaching techniques; Coordinating and assessing program activities and outcomes; Planning, implementing, and managing program components; Using a computer and related software applications; Monitoring and maintaining tools and equipment in the assigned area of responsibility; Providing academic support to students and faculty; Operating tools and equipment in the assigned area of responsibility; Administering budgets; Conducting needs assessments; Evaluating student performance; Budget management; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and colleagues; Planning and organizing special projects and events; Communication and interpersonal skills suitable for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc.; Safely operating vehicles and equipment, including trucks, utility vehicles, skid steers, tractors, and other equipment. Physical Requirements Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, gripping, and repetitive motions. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and travel.
