The Reading Interventionist advances student achievement by delivering targeted academic interventions that accelerate learning and address identified skill gaps in a virtual learning environment. Through data-informed decision making, individualized and small-group instruction, progress monitoring, and collaboration with educators, families, and support staff, the Interventionist helps students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic success. This role promotes equitable access to learning, supports school-wide intervention efforts, and utilizes evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes while meeting organizational expectations and instructional goals.

Essential Functions:

• Accelerate student achievement by delivering targeted individual and small-group interventions that address identified learning gaps and support mastery of academic standards.
• Deliver engaging synchronous and asynchronous intervention services that promote skill development, academic growth, and successful participation in the virtual learning environment.
• Utilize assessment, attendance, engagement, and performance data to identify students requiring intervention and develop targeted instructional plans that address individual learning needs.
• Implement evidence-based instructional practices, intervention strategies, accommodations, and supports designed to improve student outcomes and close achievement gaps.
• Monitor student progress through ongoing review of intervention, assessment, attendance, and engagement data and adjust instructional approaches based on demonstrated student needs and outcomes.
• Maintain ownership of assigned intervention caseloads by monitoring participation, progress, and responsiveness to intervention while ensuring timely implementation of support plans.
• Promote equitable access to learning by identifying barriers to academic success and implementing targeted supports that increase student engagement and achievement.
• Establish positive relationships with students and families that strengthen engagement, encourage persistence, and promote a growth mindset toward academic success.
• Communicate proactively with students, families, and school personnel regarding intervention plans, progress, concerns, and recommendations for ongoing support.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention supports with instructional expectations, course content, and student learning goals.
• Participate in MTSS, student support, and data-review processes to identify trends, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and develop recommendations that improve student outcomes.
• Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, administrators, and other support personnel to coordinate services and address academic, attendance, and engagement barriers.
• Maintain accurate records, intervention documentation, progress-monitoring data, and required reports in accordance with organizational expectations and applicable requirements.
• Leverage instructional technology, assessment tools, and digital resources to create engaging, accessible, and student-centered intervention experiences.
• Support student readiness for local and state assessments through targeted intervention, progress monitoring, and skill development activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by evaluating intervention outcomes, identifying opportunities for growth, and supporting implementation of effective instructional practices.
• Participate in professional learning and remain current on best practices related to intervention, assessment, progress monitoring, and virtual instruction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no regular supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of teaching experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel

Minimum Required Skill Set:

• Great organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Adaptable technology skills
• Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
• Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
• Demonstrated competencies with general technology, Microsoft Office Platforms (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.), Google Platforms, Zoom, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching in a virtual environment
• Experience with Class for Zoom or other programs for live virtual class meetings
• Experience with student assessments such as Exact Path, Study Island or AimsWeb
• Masters Degree and Level 2 Certification preferred
• Certificates and Licenses Reading- Reading Specialist PK-12

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. When office days are required, the noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic). This position will include limited travel and will include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 10% of the time. Travel will be required for meetings, community events, professional development and/or state testing.
