The Reading Interventionist will support the intervention program for the school in adherence to the Title 1 guidelines and the Virginia Literacy Act.
Assesses children throughout the school and identifies children at risk.
Designs and implements academic interventions using research-based methodology in reading and/or math using district and/or State-approved intervention resources.
Differentiates instruction based on assessment data.
Documents interventions and progress on each child with whom you support.
Shares student data with applicable teachers and administration.
Provides pre and post-assessment data to teachers and administrators.
Communicates with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress.
Participates in team reviews concerning academic progress for students who are struggling or are in need of services.
Works with the school leadership team to guide and monitor the progress of each child.
Participate in regularly scheduled Interventionists Meetings and determine next steps, in partnership with the principal, for the delivery of specific professional learning, district-provided resources, and processes at the building level.
Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning.
Knowledge of a wide range of scientific subject areas.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Certification and Licensure : Must have a postgraduate professional license with a degree in elementary education or other content specific area (i.e. reading) equivalent coursework and bilingual skills to include Spanish are preferred.
