HVAC Truck Based Senior Controls Technician

What you will do Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting. Ensure high customer satisfaction through direct on-site customer interface. Mentor control, service, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Complete required project and service documentation. Provide customers with high-level service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Act as trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service. How you will do it Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge and the ability to test and write modifications in multiple programming languages. Consult with customers through data gathered and site assessments. Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements to existing equipment. Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads. Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Report problems or changes to management immediately. Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager, or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required. Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. Assist with job layouts and bid proposals. Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems. Keep customers informed on service provided, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, replacements. Promote the sale of add‑on work. Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provide safety leadership and instruction to all control’s technicians in the branch. Provide safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors. Train customers in control systems operations. Deliver manuals and documentation for training needs. Provide mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coach, support and train the technical workforce on non‑complex, non‑critical equipment. Compile job documentation: certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists. Conduct extensive self‑study to improve and maintain technical proficiency. Complete certifications as required by the company. Other duties Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Assist in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements’ intent. Compile and/or complete project as built and close‑out documentation. Assist in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule. Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers as required. Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as‑built drawings and software. Keep management and contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues. Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system. Participate in release meeting with project field team. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Minimum of four (4) years commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including buildings, chiller plants, and systems. Vocational school program graduate or an associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years of experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems. Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment. Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites. Ability to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical people. Effective writing skills and understanding of programs and software applications. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems. Hourly Rate HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-34 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
