Health Program Director

Directs the health program in the building or buildings to which they are assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Attend to ill or injured children at school.

2. Conduct screening activities and maintain health files on students.

3. Maintain the efficient operation of the health office.

4. Keep open communication among staff, families, and the community.

5. Train staff in proper health procedures for medically fragile students.

6. Prepare health alert lists

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

-Registered nurse or LPN duly registered with the State Board of Nurse Examiners of MO

-School-based nurse experience preferred

Knowledge:

-Utilize guidelines from State Health Department

-Professional nursing standards; State Nursing Practice Act

-District Policies and Administrative guidelines

-Good knowledge of pathophysiology involved in the various diseases, illness and injuries that occur

-Knowledge in pharmacology

Skills:

-Correct CPR certification

-Be able to properly attend to injuries, knowledge of first aid/emergency care

-Oral and written communication

-Asthmatic and diabetic treatment procedures

Physical Requirements:

-Regular attendance

-Ability to deal with crisis, blood, etc.

-Good vision and hearing
