We’re seeking an experienced Paralegal to support our Legal Department through high-quality legal document preparation, research, contract support, regulatory analysis, and matter management. As a valued member of the legal team, you’ll play a critical role in supporting attorneys, internal leaders, and departments across the organization by helping ensure legal documents, processes, records, and workflows are handled with accuracy, professionalism, and strong attention to detail. About This Opportunity This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a dynamic legal environment supporting a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, corporate documents, regulatory research, investigations, litigation support, due diligence, document production, and internal legal operations. In this role, you will serve as an important resource within the Legal Department, helping manage legal documents, track projects, support attorney effectiveness, and provide guidance on standard contracting provisions, legal processes, and department workflows. What You’ll Do Draft, review, and, as applicable and under the direction of an attorney, negotiate various types of legal documents, including contracts, organizational documents, policies and procedures, letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, service agreements, employment agreements, education agreements, settlement agreements, separation agreements, leases, timeshares, use agreements, subleases, closing documents, confidentiality agreements, charters, bylaws, minutes and resolutions, certificates, corporate filings, pleadings, affidavits, subpoena responses, discovery requests, and related documents. Ensure contract terms align with Legal Department and system policies, when applicable. Confirm appropriate approvals are in place prior to execution and that signers are aligned with company policies. Assist with regulatory and legal analyses, including compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Perform complex legal research, including review of statutes, regulations, accreditation standards, online databases, case law, legal articles, and other legal documents. Participate in and assist with legal matters, including transactions, investigations, litigation, due diligence, information gathering, discovery, document production requests for governmental or administrative investigations, document preservation notices, and related assignments. Serve as an internal resource on standard and generic contracting provisions. Work with internal and external legal counsel and internal leadership to provide education on policies, procedures, contract management systems, and general contracting questions. Act as an initial point of contact and advise departments on areas such as contract terms, patient care, employment, subpoenas and release of information, medical research, and healthcare marketing. Maintain legal documents, records, and databases, including contracts, corporate records, reports, pleadings, litigation matter management reports, and other legal reports. Serve as an initial point of contact for questions to the legal team. Assist in managing workflow within the Legal Department and monitor and track projects. Support the management and delegation of projects to outside counsel, including helping identify and communicate what needs to be completed on specific matters. Perform various assignments as requested by attorneys in the department. Assist with projects as needed by other paralegals. Enhance attorney effectiveness by providing information and legal support and assisting with meeting preparation, special projects, and assigned tasks. Serve as a resource to other paralegals across the system. Assist with training and mentoring other paralegals. Act as a lead for the Legal Department and may provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate groups. What You’ll Bring Associate’s degree in a legal field. State or national certification issued by an accredited Paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association. Typically requires 5 years of experience. Superior verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of legal practices. Leadership skills. Ability to gather data and compile and present information in a clear, logical manner. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, or similar products. Ability to maintain data integrity. Excellent research skills and familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Advanced knowledge and appreciation for the subtleties in applicable laws and regulations. Strong and consistent ability to identify legal, regulatory, and risk management issues. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical skills. Ability to identify, track, and manage regulatory and other deadlines. Demonstrated willingness and ability to be proactive, take the lead, and be accountable for performance. Strong prioritization and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of the health care industry, legal and regulatory environments, Advocate Health, and the substantive area or areas supported by the role. Preferred Bachelor’s degree. Experience supporting legal operations within a health care environment. Experience working with contracts, regulatory matters, litigation support, corporate records, or legal matter management. Experience mentoring or training other paralegals or legal support professionals. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job. Occasionally lifts items weighing up to 20 lbs. Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing. Must be able to concentrate on minute details with frequent interruptions.
