Medical Assistant II - Neurology Baylor College of Medicine's Neurology Team is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant II to join our Parkinson's and Movement Disorder group. As a Medical Assistant II, you will perform patient care and administrative/support responsibilities in an ambulatory setting. This position will help support Injection procedures and authorization. We are looking for a team player who is eager to join a fast-paced group of providers. Job Duties: Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments. Conducts patient outreach phone calls and post visit follow-ups. Manages in-basket messages. Manages and coordinates incoming patient referrals. Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork. Performs clerical/administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. Takes inventory of clinic supplies and order supplies as needed. Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs. Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the electronic medical record. Notes the primary complaint/reason for patient's visit. Sets up instruments and equipment for Physician. Administers medication under direction / order of a supervising Physician. Instructs Patients on general care and medical procedures. Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution. Two years of relevant experience. Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, AAH, AAMP, or NPS). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications: Some knowledge or experience in a general neurology or Parkinson's. Work Authorization Requirement: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
