Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy - Portage, Michigan

A retail pharmacy on a busy hospital campus in Portage, MI is seeking a skilled Staff Pharmacist to join their team on a contract basis. This position involves managing a high-volume prescription workflow and providing expert pharmaceutical care as part of a collaborative health environment.

The pharmacy dispenses approximately 600 to 700 prescriptions daily, requiring exceptional attention to detail and efficient multitasking. The role includes verifying and filling prescriptions, supervising pharmacy technicians, counseling patients on medication use, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately verify and fill a high volume of prescriptions
Supervise and support pharmacy technicians in daily operations
Provide patient counseling to promote safe and effective medication use
Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, including controlled substances

Desired Qualifications:

Valid Michigan Pharmacist license
Michigan Controlled Substance License
Minimum of 1 year experience in a retail pharmacy setting
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage a fast-paced workflow with accuracy

Schedule:

Monday through Friday
9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
