Laboratory Operations Technician Location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX Req #: 4040 Clearance: National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) with ability to obtain a Security Clearance Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Salary: $37.40 to $40.85 per hour (Hourly non-exempt) Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Laboratory Operations Technician at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will provide technical backing for the maintenance and inspection of critical equipment as well as logistical expertise for the Laboratory Support Services (LSS) and Bioanalytical Core Facilities (BCF) at the NASA-Johnson Space Center. This role is a function of the Human Health and Performance Contract to support spaceflight operations projects as well as research studies conducted to advance future exploration missions. This position will work closely with the LSS engineers and laboratory stakeholders to ensure that laboratory and operational equipment is maintained in the safest manner, in accordance with established quality management system standards. This position will work closely with the LSS and BCF Leads to meet the contractual requirements of these teams. Other responsibilities include: receiving and distribution of dry ice, transportation of equipment for calibration, weekly eyewash and safety shower inspections, monitoring refrigerator and freezer performance and responding to off-nominal alerts after hours as needed, and coordinate division service contract procurement. You Will Be responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with applicable safety regulations and Company safety policies and rules, as well as report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel. Be responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company. Be responsible for completing all assigned training. Support the maintenance and repair of operational and laboratory equipment, which includes ultra-low freezers, refrigerators, incubators, water filtration systems, small laboratory equipment, etc. Coordinate with onsite measurements, standards, and calibration laboratory to ensure calibration equipment remains in compliance with NASA Standards. Coordinate with offsite vendors for proper receipt and return of instrumentation for calibration. Provide support for off-nominal temperature excursions. Provide support for the Bioanalytical Core Laboratory Facilities to include property management, chemical inventory, vendor coordination, and general health and safety compliance. Provide procurement support and coordination for division-sponsored service contracts. Provide backup support for documentation custodian and QMS documentation. Provide backup support for PPE distribution. Receive and distribute dry ice and liquid nitrogen. Perform weekly eyewash and safety shower inspections as needed. Perform other duties as required. Your Qualifications Must have a BS in Engineering Technology or a related field. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of medical and laboratory equipment. Experience with project management. Experience with SharePoint. What to Expect This position is expected to be 100% on site and 100% in person. Occasional travel may be required.
