Payroll Specialist at Shiel Sexton 

The Payroll Specialist is an experienced payroll professional responsible for supporting weekly and biweekly payroll processes, payroll reconciliations, compliance reporting, and payroll record administration. The successful candidate will possess 5-7 years of payroll experience and demonstrate the ability to take ownership of responsibilities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Responsibilities include:

• Assist the Payroll Manager with weekly and biweekly payroll processing activities.
• Enter, maintain, and audit payroll and employee information.
• Research and resolve payroll reconciliations and discrepancies.
• Reconcile payroll-related vendor statements, reports, deductions, and employee records.
• Assist with certified payroll reporting and related documentation.
• Assist with OCIP/CCIP payroll reporting and recordkeeping.
• Prepare and maintain payroll spreadsheets, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Process employee deductions, adjustments, and payroll-related transactions.
• Respond to payroll questions and research issues as needed.
• Assist the Payroll Senior Manager with payroll compliance, reporting, reconciliations, audits, and special projects.
• Maintain organized payroll files and supporting documentation.
• Protect the confidentiality of employee and payroll information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of payroll experience required.
• Strong understanding of payroll processing and payroll administration practices.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and working with large datasets.
• Ability to research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and consistently meet payroll deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Experience with UKG Pro preferred but not required.
• CPP certification preferred.
• Experience with multi-state payroll, certified payroll reporting, or payroll compliance activities is a plus.
