Laboratory Scientist/MLS/CLS/MT III - Pathology Administration - Days

Responsibilities Serve as the primary technical resource, providing advanced problem‑solving and equipment performance expertise for laboratory testing and result interpretation. Perform moderate and highly complex laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses with minimal supervision, following laboratory standard operating procedures. Maintain, review, and document quality control procedures; ensure accuracy of test results; coordinate maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Receive, prepare, and process biological specimens for testing and/or transportation to the main lab or reference laboratories. Assist with daily operation oversight of assigned lab area and shift, monitor and manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to staff, students, and residents; assist with competency assessments. Participate in laboratory process improvement activities and perform proficiency testing. Develop and evaluate new methodologies; write, review, and revise technical procedures. Actively prepare for CAP inspections and adhere to protocols and regulatory standards; assist the supervisor in sustaining accreditation compliance. Perform other duties as assigned, participate in special projects, promote teamwork and effective communication across departments, and accept alternate assignments as needed. Patient Population Neonates (0‑4 weeks) Infants (1‑12 months) Pediatrics (1‑12 years) Adolescents (13‑17 years) Adults (18‑64 years) Geriatrics (65 years and older) Education and Credentials Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an accredited program; or Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science with completion of an NAACLS–accredited CLS/MT certificate program; or Bachelor’s Degree in Life/ Biological/ Chemical Science with 8+ years of on‑the‑job training in a hospital environment performing high‑complexity testing in specific laboratory disciplines (categorical or generalist certification required). Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MSCLS) from an accredited program. Licensing/Certification: Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent ASCP categorical certification. Certification maintenance required: at least 15 CE hours annually. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of clinical work experience as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Experience may be specific to specialty areas such as Flow Cytometry, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, or Toxicology. Working Conditions Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May have periods of constant interruptions. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials.
