ASCP Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - PRN

Provide essential respiratory therapy services within a sleep diagnostic center, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care. Communicate patient progress effectively to the ordering healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer diagnostic tests and treatments including oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, baseline sleep studies, and CPAP titration while monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
• Operate specialized equipment such as oxygen flowmeters, pulse oximeters, sleep test consoles, CPAP/BiPAP devices, thermistors, and video monitoring tools.
• Assemble and disassemble sleep and respiratory therapy equipment as needed for patient care.
• Process daily patient charges in accordance with established policies.
• Document clinical assessments, patient tolerance, therapy delivered, body positioning, snoring, and special testing results in medical records.
• Respond promptly to patient needs, including performing CPR if necessary.
• After competency validation, initiate and maintain CPAP or BiPAP therapy parameters following protocols.
• Conduct patient interviews and assessments, performing required testing per departmental policies.
• Maintain accurate departmental statistical records.
• Collaborate with physicians, medical directors, and healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate testing and therapy modes.
• Apply clinical judgment and specialized skills to care for patients considering age, diagnosis, or disability.
• Foster a safe environment for patients at all times.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in a sleep lab setting is essential.

Licensure and Certifications:

• Preferred: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST).
• Considered: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) willing to complete A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years or enrolled/completed polysomnography training accredited by CAAHEP or CoARC.

Work Shift: Overnight shift in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
