This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the facility remains safe, functional, compliant, and comfortable for residents, visitors, and staff while maintaining regulatory standards and overseeing department personnel.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, implement, and oversee all maintenance department operationsDevelop and maintain maintenance policies, procedures, and preventive maintenance schedulesCoordinate maintenance services with nursing, dietary, housekeeping, activities, and other departmentsSupervise maintenance personnel and evaluate department performanceConduct daily and weekly facility inspections to identify and address maintenance needsOversee building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, boilers, and related equipmentEnsure outside vendors and contractors complete work according to contracts and work ordersParticipate in regulatory surveys and inspectionsDevelop and implement corrective action plans for maintenance-related deficienciesOversee facility safety, fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and life safety programsEnsure compliance with OSHA, infection control, and safety regulationsMaintain and monitor SDS/MSDS documentation and hazardous material storageTrain maintenance staff on safety procedures and equipment operationMonitor department expenses and assist with budgeting and cost controlMaintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and departmental reportsRespond to emergency situations and facility needs as they ariseEnsure confidential resident information is protected at all timesEnsure proper disposal of medical and hazardous waste according to facility policiesSupervisory ResponsibilitiesDirect supervision and leadership of Maintenance Department personnelStaff training, coaching, scheduling, and performance managementDepartment accountability for maintenance, safety, and environmental services functionsQualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredsupervisory experience in maintenance, plant operations, or a related fieldHealthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care maintenance experience preferredExperience managing maintenance budgets and personnel preferredSkills & AbilitiesStrong leadership and organizational skillsExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesAbility to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projectsStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to remain calm and effective during emergenciesWhat Makes You a Great FitHands-on leader who leads by exampleStrong mechanical aptitude and maintenance knowledgeCommitment to resident safety and comfortOrganized, dependable, and proactivePassionate about maintaining a high-quality healthcare environmentWe are an equal opportunity employer.
