Police Officer Recruit Bilingual (English/Korean)

Overview GPD is recruiting a Police Officer Recruit. Earn up to $157,000 a year, including incentive pays. The role is entry‑level, non‑sworn, and includes pre‑academy training and the police academy. The position supports a community‑based policing philosophy and emphasizes customer service, ethical conduct, and teamwork. Responsibilities Ensure department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest ethical standards. Respond to calls for service regarding accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats, altercations, and requests for aid; provide information and assistance to the public. Apply a community‑based policing philosophy focused on interaction and collaborative problem solving. Administer first aid to injured persons. Interview, interrogate, and record statements from witnesses, suspects, and victims; identify relevant facts and prepare written reports. Apprehend suspects, including driving at high speeds, foot chases, climbing obstacles, physical subduing, self‑defense, arrest control techniques, and using firearms under appropriate conditions. Enforce traffic laws, direct traffic, issue citations and warnings; investigate accidents, accident scenes. Investigate matters involving juveniles, report child neglect and juvenile delinquency, and refer juveniles to appropriate authorities. Serve subpoenas and warrants, testify in court, mark and store evidence, make arrests, and confer with the City/District Attorney's office. Perform other related duties as assigned or as the situation requires. Assume responsibility for ensuring duties are performed safely and efficiently. Qualifications Minimum 21 years of age. Legal authorization to work in the United States under federal law. Valid Class C California driver’s license. High school diploma or equivalent (GED, CHSPE, HiSET, CPP). Must be of good moral character, with no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude. Fluent speaking ability in Korean. Knowledge of exceptional customer service practices and ability to make independent judgments based on standard policy. Ability to remain poised and controlled in threatening or violent situations, and write clear, accurate reports. Willingness to maintain a safe working environment and work overtime as requested. Additional Requirements Pass the National Testing Network “Law Enforcement – Frontline National” exam (minimum scores: Video 65%, Writing 70%, Reading 70%). Pass a pre‑placement medical examination and a psychological evaluation. Pass a physical agility test (stair climb, obstacle climbs, dummy drag, etc.). Pass a background investigation including Livescan fingerprinting and polygraph. Provide proof of honorable discharge (DD214) for veteran’s credit. Application Process Submit an application, complete the required exam by July 28, 2026, and select City of Glendale as a testing location.
