Application Engineer – Field Development ProgramLocation: Beaverton, OR (Phase 1): Silicon Valley / Bay Area (Phase 2)Tektronix is looking for two motivated early-career engineers to join our Application Engineering Development Program — a structured path designed to build deep technical expertise in electrical test and measurement instrumentation and grow into a rewarding, customer-facing technical career.You'll start hands-on as an Application Engineer in our Technical Support Center (TSC), working directly with the engineers who use our products to solve real measurement challenges. As you build product mastery and customer insight, the program rotates you into a field-based role in Silicon Valley, where you'll apply that expertise face-to-face with customers as a trusted technical advisor, a role that grows to include commercial and business-development responsibility.This is an ideal path for a recent graduate or early career engineer who enjoys applying engineering to real-world problems, likes working directly with people, and wants a career with room to grow across applications engineering, customer-facing technical roles, and commercial/sales leadership.Program Structure & Growth PathPhase 1: Application Engineering & Technical Support (9–12 months, based in Beaverton, OR)Work as an Application Engineer in the Technical Support Center (TSC)Develop expertise in oscilloscopes, signal generators, source measure units, parameter analyzers, and other test and measurement instrumentsProvide pre- and post-sales technical support to engineers at leading technology companiesHelp customers solve complex test challenges, troubleshoot equipment, and optimize measurement setupsCollaborate with Field Application Engineers (FAEs), Sales teams, and Product Engineering teams to deliver effective solutionsCreate technical content such as application notes, training videos, and knowledge base articlesBuild the deep customer and product insight that sets you up for the next phase of the programPhase 2: Field-Based Technical Role (Silicon Valley / Bay Area)Apply your technical expertise directly with customers to drive their success — and business growthAct as a trusted advisor, helping customers select the right solutions for their applicationsPartner with Account Managers and FAEs to develop and execute account strategiesConduct product demonstrations, proof-of-concept trials, and technical discovery discussionsIdentify and develop new opportunities within your assigned accounts and regionRepresent Tektronix at customer visits, trade shows, and industry eventsStay connected to internal teams — TSC, Marketing, and Product Line — to keep your customers well supportedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related fieldUnderstanding of, or experience with, test and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, SMUs, etc.)Hands-on lab experience in R&D, university projects, or internships involving signal-oriented test and measurementProgramming experience with at least one high-level language (Python, C#, LabVIEW, etc.), particularly for instrument control and automationStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both internal teams and external customersA genuine interest in customer engagement and problem-solvingWillingness to relocate to Silicon Valley / Bay Area after the training phaseWhy Join Tektronix?A structured development program with mentorship to build deep product and customer knowledgeHands-on experience supporting cutting-edge technology customers in semiconductors, communications, aerospace & defense, and automotiveA clear growth path with strong potential across applications engineering, customer-facing technical roles, and salesA collaborative, innovative, and customer-focused environment
