Job Title Philanthropy Officer Sr - Planned Giving (Director of Gift Planning) Location Lexington, KY Responsibilities The University of Kentucky Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement Office is seeking a Director of Gift Planning to join a growing team of philanthropy professionals. The Director will oversee and drive strategic initiatives to foster planned and recurring major gifts aligned with the university’s priority objectives. Key responsibilities include: Curate and manage a portfolio of 75-90 top current and potential planned gift donors. Negotiate and refine proposals tailored to donor preferences, adhering to university guidelines, tax regulations, and trust/probate laws, focusing on cultivating blended gifts. Develop prospect strategies within gift and estate planning, collaborating with philanthropy team members, deans, directors, and faculty. Create targeted and strategic communications to boost planned gift contributions and nurture existing commitments. Lead and guide colleagues within the office and across campus, steering implementation of university-wide Planned Giving development strategies and setting ambitious fundraising objectives. Qualifications Required education: Bachelor’s degree (BA). Required experience: 7 years in philanthropic planning or related field. Preferred experience with planned giving gift administration, cultivation, and solicitation. Strong communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
