Building Automation Systems Specialist

Job Family and Location Job Family: Buildings Req ID: 505105 Position Location: This role supports our Beltsville, MD branch location, which serves customers throughout the greater Washington, D.C. area. Role Overview We are looking for a Systems Specialist to participate in the installation, startup, and commissioning of building automation system equipment that has been newly installed and support the verification of the system database and programming. The Systems Specialist is the face of Siemens and will interact with customers to help them save energy and money. Responsibilities Commission new distributed digital control systems on construction sites within planned timelines. Document commissioning details and communicate deficiencies and progress. Plan work with Lead Technician and Team Leader. Assist with data backup from data servers, creation of automated backup procedures, troubleshooting inconsistencies, and set‑up of PC workstations and user interfaces. Confirm proper network performance. Conduct operational testing, verification, and acceptance activities, run routine reports, participate in final inspection and testing, support customer acceptance, and assist with customer training on system operations. Complete and submit routine written reports; provide plans and control system documents to engineering for as‑built drawings. Support project site communication and coordination, including scheduling trade contractors for startup services, and submit accurate time and expense reports. Work overtime when needed and support compressed schedule performance if required. Work rotational on‑call and/or minimal overnight travel as required. Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures; work effectively in a team environment. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 1+ years of experience installing and servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment. Electro‑mechanical experience and user PC/software skills. On‑the‑job experience reading, understanding, and interpreting design and construction documents. Ability and willingness to work in varied conditions: climbing ladders, scaffolds, high‑lift equipment, ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, etc. Ability to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, tablet, and carry equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Willingness to work overtime as needed. Must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility for Siemens' fleet vehicle program. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without company sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or state‑recognized GED; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related fields. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
